THE
CELTIC NEW YEAR
This is a very auspicious time of the year. We are now truly conscious that we
are heading deeper & deeper into the winter months.
Halloween has come and gone, although we are left with the feeling that we have
been visited by our dear ones in the Spirit world, it's almost as if they have
ignited an inner light that will hopefully see us through into the dark days
ahead.
As Yule approaches our focus should be on maintaining that light. This is
possibly the true meaning of Yule, a rememberance that where there is dark there
is also light.
Metaphorically speaking our Barns are full, we are in good health, and we know
how to keep warm, as we leave the beginnings of the new year behind, we resolve
to see the winter out and Samhain and Yule give us the opportunity to celebrate
our own abundance.
When we imagine being drawn into the time of winter, we can also imagine being
drawn into our inner landscape. This is symbolic of a need to withdraw and take
sustenance from our inner resources. There one can find our Goddess or other
archetype, an energy guide to oversee our safe passage into the warmer months of
Spring.
All the seeds have ben planted within ready to burst forth with the Spring
sunshine.
There is a familiarity with the imagery of the Mythic Tarot Pack, Persephone
descends into the depths of Hades,
there she will tarry for a while, until she is able to return to the outer world
again.
All this of course is symbolic of how we are subject to cycles in life and we
are to be wise to them and even use their essence as a spiritual resource. There
ia a love of life around at this time, a promise of a new start ahead, it also
reminds us that life and hope do indeed spring eternal !!
